Windows 11 24H2 is more buggy than initially thought and it might be best to avoid installing it for now

Despite being released three weeks ago, Windows 11 24H2 is quite buggy for a major release: we’re not just talking about the 8.63 storage dump, the patch deactivating Windows 11 altogether, or causing major issues with WD SSDs; apparently, the patch might cause serious installation errors on some Asus devices or even when simply opening the Camera app.

According to the latest entries in the Windows Release Health Dashboard, a couple of Asus devices, specifically the X415KA and X515KA models, cannot undergo the Windows 11 24H2 installation process. Acknowledged by Microsoft, the company is trying to find a solution to this issue together with Asus, and these devices will no longer receive the option to upgrade.

A solution is coming, and more information will be available soon, but the Redmond-based tech giant says a hardware error mostly causes the issue.

After attempting to update to Windows 11, version 24H2, some ASUS devices, specifically the X415KA and X515KA models, might encounter an issue where the system is unable to complete the update. During the update process, devices might experience a blue screen with an error message and cannot complete the installation of version 24H2.  

Windows 11 24H2’s buggy ways continue with the Voicemeeter application, which apparently conflicts with the new patch, causing major blue screen errors with the Memory Management issue. Similar to the previous issue, Microsoft is currently investigating the bug with VB-Audio Software to provide a swift resolution.

The bug, per se, is caused by a conflict of drivers.

After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, you might experience issues with your device if you are running the Voicemeeter application. While using the Voicemeeter application, you might observe that your device encounters a blue screen with an error message indicating a MEMORY MANAGEMENT error. Note: This issue is caused due to the incompatibility of VoiceMeeter’s driver with the latest Memory manager.

Unfortunately, Windows’ native apps are not sparred. Using the Camera app and its facial recognition abilities within Windows 11 24H2 might cause some applications to become buggy and unresponsive. It doesn’t only affect the app, but other platforms that use the Camera are affected by this bug, as well. Here’s how Microsoft describes it:

After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, certain devices might experience problems using the integrated camera in scenarios where object or face detection features are enabled. This can include using the Camera app, using facial recognition sign-in options with Windows Hello, and other applications that use the integrated camera.

Similar to the other issues, Microsoft is working to provide a permanent solution to users, and many devices will not yet have the option to install Windows 11 24H2.

However, given the magnitude of the major issues currently happening with Windows 11 24H2, it might be best not to install it for now. While this shouldn’t happen, in the first place, the best solution is to avoid it until it gets more stable.
